Outflanges are connected to the backflange at the point of connection with the fireplace unit. These flanges are used to fasten the enclosure to the fireplace. If you are putting the enclosure on a new masonry fireplace then you may need to request long outflanges, depending on how far it is from the inside of the firebox to a solid surface that you will be able to fasted them to. Ironhaus will not knowingly provide outflanges to facilitate application to an unapproved manufactured fireplace.
